2022: Ekiti State Governorship election will be devoid of violence – Residents

Residents and other concerned persons have expressed the confidence that the governorship election billed to hold tomorrow in Ekiti State will be violence free.

Their shared optimism was contained in an opinion report carried out across the three (3) senatorial districts in the State.

According to what was gathered by Voiceairmedia, many residents in the State said “Ekiti is calm , peaceful and against any report making the rounds so far to create fear in the mind of the people”.

One of the residents interviewed, Dr Raphael Ajayi said ,”We are very optimistic that the Election will be conducted smoothly without any rancour”.

Also, some of the respondents including Okada riders, traders and artisans commended the Federal Government for the deployment of security agents, saying such action was a clear signal that government is concerned about the wellbeing of electorates and the success of the poll.

In a separate addition, another resident, Mrs Elizabeth Iyeoluwa, hailed the organization of Violence Against Women Participation in Politics ( VAWIP) for the adequate sensitisation and awareness created by their organization to encourage women to go out on election day to vote for their desired candidate without the fear of being molested.

Speaking to newsmen earlier, the National Peace Committee (NPC) appealed to the residents of the state to maintain more peace before, during and after the governorship election in the state.

Meanwhile, the Ekiti State Police Command has given an assurance that every electorate would be duly protected during the election.

Meanwhile, Spokesperson for the State Police command, DSP Sunday Abutu urged people of the state to be calm and come out to vote without any fear of molestation. CONTINUE READING…
