It was indeed a hectic day at the Osun State High Court (1), Osogbo, Osun State at the second day of resumed hearing of the alleged murder case of Timothy Oludare Adegoke, a Master Degree student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) who was allegedly murdered at the Hilton Hotel and Honours on November 6, 2021.

ADEKUNLE Adebayo (36), who work with The Polythenic, Ile- ife at the Bursary Department, he was employed by Dr Rahman Adedoyin to work as an Auditor at Hilton Hotels was the fourth defendant in the murder case of Timothy Oludare Adegoke on November 5, 2021.

The Hotel is owned by Dr. Rahman Adedoyin who is standing trial for the alleged murder of Timothy Adegoke along with six other suspects
Adebayo who broke into tears during the Cross examination by the Prosecuting Counsel, said he has spent seven months in prison custody for the offence he did not commit.

Reporters were in court to cover one of the most celebrated cases in Osun State in recent times. We decided to write verbatim reports of the cross examinations in order not to miss out any information.

As a staff what’s your schedule of duty?

My work is to monitor the money being paid by students to the institution.

What’s is your connection with Hilton Hotel?

When my Boss Chief Adedoyin sees am aa a very trustworthy person that one can rely upon, that’s why he used me as the auditor of Hilton hotel that he just bought.

Tell my Noble Lord what you know about this case?

On the 9th of November 2021 at 9am in the morning, I went to Hilton Hotel to collect their weekly sales record, I met the Receptionist on duty, Quadri Moshood and I asked him for the weekly sales record as I usually ask every week. He told me that it is not yet ready.

The weekly Sales Report commences from Monday to Sunday which is just a week
On the 9th of November 2021, it was on a Tuesday right?

Yes, it was on a Tuesday,
Then what happen thereafter?

When he told me that it is not yet ready, I asked him that what happened and he told me that Adedeji Adesola, the Receptionist on duty on Friday has not balanced her account, that there are some money that she is meant to attach to the teller which is not available

I now told him to call Adesola that am around to collect the weekly sales record. When I told him, I left the place and went to my Office at the Polythenic, Ile-Ife.

Thereafter, what happen?

Around 12:03pm on the 9th, November 2021, Adesola came to my office and I asked her what happened that why was the account delayed?

She started begging me that she travelled and that she was told I came around that morning. I collected the account from her and checked through it. I told her not to allow such to repeat itself because it will delay my work as an Auditor.

What happened the following day?

On the 10th of November 2021 which was on Wednesday, around 5pm we closed and everybody went to their various houses. At past 6pm, I recieved a call and when I picked the phone, it was Quadri Moshood, one of the Receptionists at Hilton Hotel.

He told me that the account they brought that they need it, that I should bring it, I asked him that
“Mr Moshood what right do you have to be asking account from me”?

He said Auditor, am sorry I was asked to call you and he switched off his phone.

Shortly after, the MD Mr Raheem Adedoyin called me that I should bring the account that is with me, I told MD that they just submitted the account on the 9th of November 2021 which was on Tuesday and they were asking for it on Wednesday.

I told Mr Raheem Adedoyin that I will go to the bank on Thursday to collect bank statement for auditing on Friday so I will not be able to bring it to you.

But Mr Raheem said it is urgent that I should bring it. I was thinking maybe there was a fraud and they want to resolve it.
But I told them that they did something that I dont like that they should have called me during office hour.

When I got there I saw Mr Raheem, Quadri Moshood and some policemen who were not in uniform and I handed over the account to the MD and the MD said I should give it to the Policemen.

The Policemen took it from me and checked it and they said they will collect the copy of account amd take it to Osogbo and I left the place and went to my house.

On the 5th to 8th of November 2021, you were not in Hilton Hotel right?

Yes my lord

The allegation against you is that you conspired to commit murder?

I did not, that’s a big lie.

On the 12th November 2021 at State CID, Osogbo,when we got to Osogbo when I was writing my statement, that’s when the Investigating Officer told me that the person who died in the hotel that what do I know about it.

Did you at any point in time met with Madgalane at Polythenic to ask her if there was meeting at the Chairman’s House?

No, on the 12th of November, around 3am, I recieved a call that I should come to the House of Dr Raymond Adedoyin when I got there I saw staffs of the Hilton Hotels. Magdalene asked if I was called and I said yes and she said they called her too. Not quite long , Dr Raymond Adedoyin the owner of Hilton Hotel came out and said that Policemen are asking of us and he will hand them over to the Police men and they took us to where the police men are. When we got there I saw other defendants and policemen with them.

When we got there, the Policemen asked that are we complete and they said yes, and they directed us to move but I questioned them that what happened and the policemen said we don’t have any issue to say that we should go to Osogbo.

You were present at the Glass House when the receipt was altered?

I was not there when this receipt was altered and nobody can say I was there. The account Adesola brought to me on Tuesday , I gave to. Policemen on Wednesday.

The Cross Examination was then Shifted to Friday 27 because it was late at 6.42pm.
On Friday the 27th, the hearing started at 9:48am.

The seven defendants were present.

You made statement to the police here in Abuja and Osogbo?

Yes

At this stage, you still maintain that what you wrote are true reflection of what you said here in the court?

Yes. At this point, he was asked read what he wrote as Statement, he read it that there was alteration on the report before it was handed to the Police different from what he claimed happened.

The Defence Counsel asked for adjournment to enable his witnesses testify before one of the Defendants, Adesola Adedeji entered into the Witness Box because their presence is crucial to the cross examination.
