Osun Guber: They made life hell for me, predict I was going to discredit Yorubas as Speaker of House – Labour party Candidate, Lasun

THE Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the Osun State gubernatorial election slated for July 16, 2022, Hon Lasun Yussuff has revealed how his detractors made life hell for him in his four years as the Honourable Speaker of the House of Representatives.

This is as the former Deputy Speaker, made the statements at the ‘The Frontiers” an engagement Programme organized by the association of veteran Journalists, Osun State chapter in Osogbo

The program was held at the NUJ Chapel, Osogbo on Wednesday, April 27, 2022

Lasun who recently decamped from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Labour Party said his detractors thought he was going to disgrace the Yorubas.

When he was asked if actually he is a rebel and betrayal in the role he played to emerge as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Lasun who was blunt and frank told newsmen and his supporters that the Yorubas are deceitful, unforgiving and parochial.

Lasun said, “We, the Yorubas are deceitful race, it is unfortunate, we are unforgiven, we are parochial, we are sentimental. I am more Yoruba than all of you because I have a tribal mark. I am the only one that would not explain myself but all of you will have to explain yourself whether you were born in Nigeria or in Sierra Leone (laughter), I don’t need to explain myself.
How can a Yoruba man with a tribal mark be described a betrayal for assuming a position that was never specifically zoned to anybody without any formal meeting?

“Nobody has ever challenged my position since 2015, all of them from Oyegun, that’s the only person I am permitted to mention his name. If I mention other people’s names they will start shouting on Social Media.

“Nobody called any meeting, what they did was, “somebody said he is the leader…” I said why, so many things went underground. And they made life a hell for me but today am happy for one thing, that platform showcased who I am.”

The Labour party Candidate fondly called Ikolaba went further,
“They thought I was going to disgrace the Yorubas.

“The first day I was to preside at the Chamber, somebody later told me when he was in the Chamber said, “God, why did you bring me here this morning, this particular day when this idiot is going to preside and he is going to disgrace the Yorubas race.”

“He used his mouth to come and confess to me that the picture they painted about me was a picture of an illiterate, an idiot’ but when I sat down and read the first sentence, the young man said, definitely, this is not the man they have painted.” CONTINUE READING…
