LAUTECH: Concerned Students Lambast Self-Acclaimed NANS Zone D Coordinator

The ASUU strike has attracted more issues as a self-acclaimed NANS Zone D coordinator got the students furious which has given rise to some reactions. Below is the full statement:

SELF-ACCLAIMED NANS ZONE D COORDINATOR WHO’S A POLYTECHNIC GRADUATE AND NO MORE A STUDENT MAY NEVER UNDERSTAND THE STRUGGLE OF ASUU

I bring to you solidarity greetings and also to express my sheer displeasure over the statement credited to someone who claimed to be NANS Zone D coordinator from Southwest. It is disheartening, to say the least, that someone who has never won an election before will be parading himself in such a reverend position as Zonal Coordinator which is just a mere fallacy. He was never elected as one.

Furthermore, we have noble union leaders from Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH) liaising with their lecturers and also giving them an ultimatum to return to class while the National Students body (NANS) keeps pressuring Federal Government to quickly end this strike in all our institutions. We commend the LAUTECH students union for standing up by taking such a bold step and we urge other union bodies to rise and call their lecturers out and make them understand the need to pull out of the strike. This is however not to say that NANS is against the ASUU struggle but it is high time we face the reality that after this whole power tussle, the striking union will receive their salaries and so also the minister while the so-called revitalizing may remain a fiasco.

Suffice to say while we support the pulling-out agenda, his case calls for somber care. it is highly embarrassing to us because as a NANS coordinator (acclaimed) he never knew what the struggle of the union represents, owing to the fact that he doesn’t belong to the same school of thought as “us” in the university.

I, therefore, call on the students to beware of comrades with nefarious agendas who are hell-bent on sabotaging the struggle. Those already purchased by the media to respond even when they have no office to hold on to. We must collectively rise and defend our rights! We must never be allowed disunity amongst us and we must never be allowed individual vested interest to take the best of our struggle.

Self-acclaimed coordinator, a Polytechnic graduate, and no more a student who has never won election in NANS
He has never experienced ASUU strike
He has never been affected by the ongoing strike
He has never been the student of the struggle
Is LAUTECH from Ogun state, or South-south or Southwest?
Let him reach out to a University Student on campus to give him details about the ASUU strike
