Akin Ogunbiyi: The Vision To Transform Osun State Is Still Alive

Former Gubernatorial Aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi has said that his aspiration to transform Osun State is still alive saying that he is more committed to a new dawn in Osun State.

He dropped this hint in a statement he made available to VAM News in his Ile Ogbo Country Home shortly after meeting with his Local Government Coordinators and Political Associates.

The Insurance Expert reinstated his commitment to transforming Osun State which is presently embroiled in all manners of political squabbles.

Recall that Dr Ogunbiyi recently pulled out of the PDP Gubernatorial Primary contest over perceived manipulation of the process aimed at favoring a particular candidate without allowing a level playing field.

While thanking his Political Associates, Ward/LG Coordinators and supporters for standing strong in the face of death threats and intimidation, he emphasised that there is always bright sky after a dark night. He expressed satisfaction with the courage displayed through the events leading to his withdrawal from the PDP Primaries.

The Business Mogul turned politician used the occasion to clarify that he only withdrew from the PDP primaries but not the Gubernatorial race.

He also cleared the air on the insinuations in some quarters that he has stepped down. He reiterated that he did not step down for any of the PDP candidates and that he will fully participate in the July 6 Gubernatorial elections.

“Let me say clearly here that my motivation has always been the possibilities of a transformed Osun State through sustainable economic development and citizens well being.

That vision is very much alive” he emphasised.  Dr Akin Ogunbiyi said that whatever happened in the last PDP primaries was anticipated and was not sufficient to deter the collective resolve to put Osun State on the path of tangible development as according to him,” a new Osun is very possible”.

He further asserts that he is currently consulting with various stakeholders in the State on the way forward and in the next few days he will make his intentions public.

He called on like minded people Osun who are yearning for the good life to join hands with him to rescue the State.

According to him, the current crisis that has engulfed the two dominant political parties is a clear indication that our collective destinies should not be entrusted to them. “A Yoruba proverb says you should first look at the dress of whoever wants to dash you a dress” he asserted.

He affirmed further that the challenges facing Osun State could only be resolved through a competent transformational leadership.

“We have conducted ourselves with candour and divinity. We have shown you that we can deliver if given an opportunity to serve”.

The supporters of the Philanthropist present at the meeting took turns to extol his virtues, commended his humility in the face of intimidation and courage in the face of betrayal.

They reinstated their support for his aspiration and vowed to remain steadfast with him till Osun State is liberated.
