REWIND: Lawyer seeks Detained Hilton Hotel Founder, Adedoyin Release Amid Health Challenges, COVID-19

Apparently amid the rising cases of COVID-19 Outbreak, the founder of Oduduwa University and the polytechnic, Ile-Ife, Ramon Adedoyin, was arrested on November 15th, by the Osun state Police Command following the death of a one lodger, Timothy Adegoke, a master’s degree student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).

Despite his deteriorating health, Adedoyin, the chairman of Hilton hotels has been detained by police for over 38 days ago, under the condition of a suspect, despite the right to personal liberty in Nigeria, noting that according to Section 35 of the 1999 constitution of the federal Republic Of Nigeria states that “the Police may not detain any suspect any suspect for longer than Forty-eight (48) hours without a court order”

Moreover, Adedoyin is said to have spent over 38 days in Police detention despite the fact that investigations so far has not revealed anything criminal against his person since the reported death of late Mr Adegoke in Hilton hotel.

The educationist who is reported to be suffering from Diabetes and hypertension.

We hereby appeal to the Police to release Adedoyin for his doctor to review his condition in view of his long incarceration by the Police, noting that holding Ramon Adedoyin without charges is a flagrant abuse of his fundamental right.

Because of his falling health, the concerned citizens hereby joined voices with the lawyers and family in calling for justice for Adedoyin.
