Usman Alkali Baba, the Inspector-General of Police, has assured the public that justice will be served in the case of Timothy Adegoke, the MBA student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, who died under mysterious circumstances in November.
In a letter addressed to Kola Balogun, the senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, who had petitioned the IGP for a thorough investigation into Adegoke’s murder, Alkali, through Idowu Owohunwa, a Commissioner of Police, said the IGP’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT) and the Force Intelligence Bureau, Abuja, were on the case.
Already a subject of detailed police investigation by Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Force Intelligence Bureau, Abuja,” the letter, dated December 14, reads in part.
“The Inspector-General of Police assures that justice will be served in the case and the outcome of the investigation will be made public in due course.”
Adegoke had travelled to Ile-Ife from Abuja in November, with the hope of sitting for exams at the OAU Distance Learning Centre. He was initially declared missing on November 7, but his corpse was later found near Hilton Hotel and Resorts, Ile-Ife.
Rahmon Adedoyin, the owner of the hotel, and six others are currently in custody as an investigation into the strange death continues.
