Council election in Ekiti today, vehicular movement restricted

Local council election will take place in Ekiti today, with government announcing the restriction of vehicular movement starting from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Mr Biodun Omoleye, Chief of Staff to Gov. Kayode Fayemi, said in a statement on Friday in Ado-Ekiti that the restriction is to allow for the smooth conduct of local government elections.

Omoleye said only those on essential and electoral assignments are exempted from the restriction.

Omoleye added that students participating in NECO examination across the state with valid proof of Identification would be allowed unhindered movement.

He solicited the cooperation of the people of the state towards achieving a hitch-free and peaceful election.

Omoleye reiterated the commitment of the state government to the safety of every citizen of the state before, during and after the election.
