Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola has approved payment of bursaries to indigent students in the state’s tertiary institutions.
The state’s deputy governor, Mr Benedict Alabi, said this at an award presentation and endorsement of Oyetola’s second term candidature by the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) on Wednesday in Osogbo.
Alabi said that Gov. Oyetola holds students in high esteem and will continue to make them significant players in government.
He applauded the students for the recognition accorded Oyetola’s administration on the modest achievements made since assumption of office.
The deputy governor described education as the bedrock of socio-economic development of any society, noting that the sector had witnessed tremendous achievements in the last three years.
“Our government holds students in high esteem and we will always do everything in our powers to prioritise their interests; make them significant players in our inclusive and participatory governance.
“Recently, we approved payment of bursaries to indigent students in our tertiary institutions to assist them.
“Very soon, beneficiaries will begin to receive alerts. We have been consistent in responding to emergencies affecting students of the state across the country,’’ the deputy governor said.
