Ifedayo LG Chairman Flags Off Roads Grading, Residents Laud Tinubu Over LG Autonomy

THE leadership of Ifedayo Local Government Area of Osun State on Tuesday commenced massive roads grading exercise across the nooks and crannies of the Council.

This is even as the residents of the Council showered encomiums and lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the positive impact of Local Government Autonomy.

Speaking at the flag off in Oke-Ila-Orangun, Ifedayo Local Government Chairman, Hon. Samuel Idowu Abiodun described the grading exercise as a child of necessity to open up rural communities.

Hon. Abiodun who doubled as State Chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, said the grading would go a long way to ameliorate transportation system and connect rural communities to urban centres within the Council.

He said the Council Chairmen were irrevocably determined and resolute to stimulate local economy by opening up their respective Councils to the larger communities.

According to him, the ongoing 35km roads grading exercise is a testament to the pro-masses developmental plans of the APC led Councils in Osun aimed at breathing life in the grassroots.

“Honestly, this grading exercise is aimed to directly impact our people at the grassroots. As we all know, roads grading exercise is a fundamental responsibility of the Council to ease transportation and conveyance of people and farm produce from the rural areas (villages) to towns.

“I thank God that road grading is ongoing across the 30 Local Government Areas and Area Office in Osun State. This is a well- thoughtout initiative purposely implementing to bring succour to our people at the rural communities and urban centres.

“As you can see, it is a welcome development as beneficiaries particularly the farmers and motorists plying the graded roads have been commending the initiative. With this, it shows that the exercise is indeed, has direct impact on them and we promise to make it a regular routine while we continue to implement more people-focused projects in our various Councils”, Hon. Abiodun said.

Corroborating, Chairman, Ifedayo Area Office, Hon. Musbau Olanrewaju reassured dividends of democracy across the council.

He said the council would continue to make life better for her people through timely implementation of projects and programmes that would impact them greatly.

Some of the rural dwellers who spoke, appreciated the initiative described it a welcome development.

Speaking intermittently, Alhaji Yekini Sulaiman, Mrs. Esther Agboola, Mr. Adeyemi Babatunde, Alhaji Jelili Owolabi, Mr. Kazeem Azeez Ademola, Mr. John Amos, Mr. Afolabi Muftau, Mr. Jimoh Oladosu and Mrs. Oladipo Oluwakemi, praised the initiative which according to them would open up their communities to the main town for socioeconomic development.

The flag off has the presence of Ifedayo Local Government Vice Chairman, Hon. Faronbi Adegbola, APC stalwart in Ifedayo and party loyalists.
