FG disburses N58bn to poor Nigerians in 2 months

The Federal Government disbursed N58billion to Nigerians in the past two months under the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT).

 

 

 

Halima Shehu, National Coordinator, Household Uplifting Programme – Conditional Cash Transfer (HUP – CCT) made the disclosure on Thursday.

 

 

 

Shehu spoke in Yola at the launch of a two-day stepdown training on HUP-CCT orientation and sensitisation of beneficiaries.

 

 

 

She said the programme was initiated to support development objectives with the priority of improving households’ consumption.

The official noted that poverty and hunger are high among rural dwellers, especially female-headed households with little sources of income.

 

 

 

The government established the HUP – CCT), with ‘Beta don come’ slogan to assist the lower class, Shehu explained.

 

 

 

“In the last two months, across the country, the Federal Government has disbursed the sum of N58billion to the less privileged”, NAN quoted her as saying.

 

 

The coordinator disclosed that Adamawa government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal Government to participate in the programme in 2016.
