VP Osinbajo Pens Powerful Message to Youths, Cautions ‘Yahoo Boys’

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has warned Nigerian youths to avoid indulging in fraudulent activities, asking, “What is the sense of getting money if you can’t sleep?”

Youths should not be sidetracked, according to Osinbajo, by gangs of scammers known as ‘yahoo boys.’

The Vice President emphasized that the Yahoo boys will be punished and imprisoned.

Osinbajo remarked during the inaugural convocation speech of Kola Daisi University in Ibadan, Oyo State, that instead of allowing Yahoo boys to divert them, youths should strive to utilize the numerous programs put up by the Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria to help young entrepreneurs.

He disclosed that a lot of Nigerian youths have made it without fraudulent practices.

He said:” Don’t be distracted by the yahoo yahoo boys that are coming up one day with fancy cars. Their days are always numbered.

“They will go to jail one day. The point, of course, is that what is the point of making money when you can’t sleep well at night.

“But you must find out about the support that is available either from the private sector or public sector. For example, the Federal Government has established a N75 billion National Youth Investment Fund. This provides financial support for small businesses in any field.”
