Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has assured that there will be no cover-up in the search for the truth over the Ikoyi building collapse.
“If anyone is found to be indicted, he/she will definitely face the law”, he declared in a statement Wednesday morning.
Sanwo-Olu made the pledge hours after visiting the site on Gerrard Road, alongside Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu.
The governor inspected the level of work being done in the ongoing search and rescue operation.
The Lagos helmsman expressed appreciation to the responders and all who have joined the efforts.
He confirmed that a help desk has been set up at the site for people seeking information about their relations involved in the incident.
Sanwo-Olu affirmed the earlier announcement that a panel to investigate and make recommendations on how to prevent future occurrence will be set up.
“We are already conducting an internal probe to find out what went wrong and punish those indicted.
“My sincere condolences go to the families who have lost loved ones. May the souls of the departed Rest In Peace”, the statement added.
A video of the developer, Femi Osibona, his sister (Dele Momodu’s wife) and some foreigners on a structure believed to be the one that caved in is trending.
