The Federal Secretariat in Abuja was engulfed in flames on Wednesday, affecting key units.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service stated this in a Thursday update.
Ibrahim Muhammad, the Public Relations Officer, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the fire affected the register and records, accounts, pension, and variation units.
A man was wounded at the Federal Ministry of Education, where the outbreak began, according to the spokesperson.
“One person who probably decided to work after office hours at the secretariat was injured in the leg but there is no fatality”, he said.
Muhammad disclosed that a section where a bank is located was damaged before firefighters put the situation under control.
“The fire occurred at the second floor and the cause of the fire is likely from a split air conditioner but further investigation is on”, the PRO added.
An area where cars are parked was also affected causing the destruction of more than 10 vehicles.
The incident was the sixth recorded at federal agencies/buildings in the last two years.
