The Government of Ekiti State has brokered peace in Odo Owa Ekiti in the Irede Local Council Development Area of the state, ending a seven-year palace boycott by 11 chiefs in the town.
The chiefs led by the Obadogun of Idogun Quarters, Chief Ayo Ajayi, returned to the palace of the Olowa of Odo Owa Ekiti, Oba Ayorinde Oyedeji, to resume their traditional duties they have abandoned since 2014.
The Obadogun, Chief Ajayi, who spoke at a meeting with stakeholders where the Deputy Governor, Bisi Egbeyemi, was briefed on the implementation of the peace terms, commended the state government for the intervention.
The Olowa, Oba Oyedeji, who confirmed that the Obadogun and other chiefs had returned to the palace and started performing their official duties, said, “I thank God and the Ekiti State Government. Peace has returned to our town and we have now been working together as one.”
Also, according to a statement by the Special Assistant (Media) to the Deputy Governor, Odunayo Ogunmola, the crisis was resolved after three rounds of meeting.
The statement added that the deputy government said, “I am happy with the resolution of this crisis and I am happy that peace has returned to Odo Owa. Kabiyesi, please don’t deny anybody their rights and with this development, Odo Owa will move forward.”
