Anambara State Governorship Debate (ASGD) Youth bodies collaborate, initiate move against voters apathy in the November 6 Gubernatorial poll.

Ahead of the forthcoming 2021 Governroship election in Anambra State, some youth bodies have come together to collaborate and organise themselves into a stronger organisation to ensure massive participation of the youth extraction in the election coming up on November 6, 2021.

Some of the Youth bodies in the collaboration are the Nigerian Youth Decide NYD, Diamond Youth Transformation Initiative DYTI, Nigeria Must Be Great Again NMBGA, Noble citizens human welfare development INITIATIVE, The State Youth Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Youth Wing of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, NIGERIAN STUDENT AND YOUTHS ASSOCIATION (NSYA), NATIONAL UNION OF ANAMBRA STATE STUDENTS(NUASS), Ideato Citizens FORUM (ICF),Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN)), Youth Wing of Non Anambra Indigenes Forum, Yoruba Council of Youth Anambra State chapter,and Islamic Association of Nigeria (Jama’atul Nasiru Islam) Igbo in Dispora among others that have applied to identify with the collaboration.

Amb. Uche Ekpere Paul, who initiated the move told Journalists in a briefing that the highlights of the initiative is to wage effective war against voters apathy among the youth fold in the State through door to door campaign, organise debate for the candidates of the 18 political parties in the race for the election and fish out the best among the candidates and vote him in.

Amb. Uche said the debate which is tentatively slated to hold on October 17, 2021 at Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Center in Awka the State capital will definitely avail the youth the opportunity to make their choice on who to vote for adding that the choice of the youth would coast home to victory going by their numerical strength and Strategies already on ground.

Corroborating the initiator, the chairman of the debate committee Comrade Ikedim Ikeagwuonu said that all the candidates of the political parties in the race for Anambra top job are expected to feature in the debate adding that arrangement has been made for notable television stations to air the debate live on screen.

When asked to comment on the.insinuation making round in some quarters that the party at the center in Abuja might use the federal power to bulldoze its way to the government house in Awka, Engr. Emmanuel Chukwumeka Nwachuku who is the Anambara State Cordinator of Nigeria Must Be Great Again NMBGA, Diamond Youth Transformation Initiative DYTI, Nigeriañ Youth Decide warned that attempt to rig the election will be resisted by youth through available legal means.

Maintaining that attempt to rig the election will not work because the youth and other segments of electorates won’t tolerate it, he advised the candidates to better start campaign and reach out to the electorates with their manifesto and avoid putting hope on rigging because rigging will not work.
