Pep Guardiola Finally Set Date To Leave Manchester City

There are indications that Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola may leave the Premier League champions when his contract expires in 2023 as he wants to take a break before delving into international football management, the Spaniard said on Wednesday.

The erstwhile Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss joined the Cityzens in 2016 and has turned the club into a consistent title challenger on the home-front and in Europe.

During his five years in charge of the club, the Spaniard has bagged three Premier League titles and guided City to seven other trophies — one FA Cup, two Community Shields, and four League Cups – making a total of ten trophies in five years.

However, the UEFA Champions League trophy has eluded him at City having lifted two at Barca.

The closest he has come to winning the UEFA Champions League title with City was last season when his side emerged runners-up after losing to Tuchel’s Chelsea by a lone goal in Portugal.

In a chat with a Spanish media (Marca) on Wednesday, Pep revealed his next managerial destination after he must have taken a break.

“The next step will be a national team if there is a possibility.”

“After seven years at this club, I think I’m going to have a break. I will need to rest after being somewhere so many years and also stop to evaluate what we’ve done and to try to learn from other coaches.

“If during this process of stopping, there is a chance to coach a national team then I think I’d like that. I’d like to coach at a European Championship or Copa America or World Cup. I’d like to experience that.” Guardiola was quoted by Spanish daily, Marca.
