Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has assured Muslims and the people of the state that his administration shall continue to uphold the religious rights of every citizen and provide an enabling environment for the sustenance of peace and harmony amongst all those living in the State.
Governor Ikpeazu, who gave the assurance in a message congratulating Muslim faithfuls in Nigeria on the commemoration of 2021 Eld-El Kabir celebration, tasked them to eschew negative tendencies that create religious tension.
He thanked the Muslim community in the State for keeping the peace.
The Sallah message was made available to DAILY POST on Tuesday night by Onyebuchi Ememanka, the Chief Press Secretary to the Abia Governor.
Ikpeazu urged them to vigorously pursue and entrench the ideals of peaceful coexistence and the virtues of tolerance.
He further challenged the Muslim faithfuls to assist the Government to fish out the bad eggs amongst them whose aim is to create unnecessary religious tension in the State, noting that the Muslims in the State have been great advocates of peace and have remained law abiding.
The State Chief Executive congratulated them on this celebration of Sallah and challenged them to imbibe the characteristics associated with the Holy Prophet Mohammed, such as humility, sacrifice, love, peace and unity.
In the same vein, the Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uchechukwu Ogah has called on Nigerians to remain committed to God in prayers for peace, unity, security, and progress of the country.
In a Sallah message on Tuesday, Ogah felicitated with all Muslim faithful across the country, wishing them the blessings and guidance of Allah.
The Minister further appealed to Nigerians to embrace the virtues of love, peace, charity, and sacrifice as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Mohammed.
He noted that the significance of the Islamic celebration had a great positive impact in enhancing the peace, unity, and progress of the country.
