OUR LEADERS IN SOUTHWEST DRAG US TO THE MUD – By OLATUNJI DARAMOLA (UTOPIAN)

OUR LEADERS IN SOUTHWEST DRAG US TO THE MUD – By OLATUNJI DARAMOLA (UTOPIAN)

From ADO EKITI

Its saddening my heart many a times when I observe the lackadaisical, lax and unpatriotic attitudes of our leaders in the southwestern region of the country. It is pitiable and highly regrettable to see them (our leaders) trading and exchanging our birth rights for the a plate of barbecue between their northern political contemporary.

Our leaders in southwest left leprosy uncured and chase after cleansing the rashes by believing in the acclaimed ONE NIGERIA, while the northerners are apparently planning tirelessly on how to occupy the entire territories of Nigeria nation.

The lord’s attitudes of these people (northerners) is evident to this claim.

Penultimate days ago, the southwestern region governors held a meeting in Lagos in which they resolved on how to occupy the sit of power coming 2023 presidential election. Thereafter, there were a lot of unhidden negative reactions and provocative utterances from the northerners from their illiterates to the elites.

On July 1, DSS illegally raided the house of the Yoruba agitator, Sunday Adeyemo fondly called Sunday Igboho, destroyed his personal effects and claimed to have recovered some sophisticated ammunitions, killed and arrested some of his innocent boys, in his residence at soka, in Ibadan metropolis.

However, our leaders failed to react to this horrific act and trampled on the fundamental human right, as a result of their selfish and greediness. Can this ever happened in any part of the north??

What as any of them commented on the interactions and negotiations of Gumi with the bandits and terrorists and many anomalies causing marginalization of the southwest??

I strongly believe without any Oita of doubt, if AREWA MOVEMENT comes in existence today, the northerners would have their ways because of their sense of unity, corporation and coordination.

We can’t continue handle situations with kid gloves and expect any landmark progress in southwestern region, else, we will continue to be a slave to these people. As Yoruba people will say Omo eni kin sedi bebere ki a fi ileke sidi omo elomiran. (We can’t abandon our children and farther to wear beads on the waist of other children and expect something good to seed out from it).

2023 is less than some months and the scorching sun in the sky is more than sufficient to dry off the soaked clothes.
