Dear Vice-Chancellor,

RE: EKPO INIOBONG ISANG EXPULSION
NANS REJECT UNJUST EXPULSION, DEMAND IMMEDIATE REVERSAL
OR EXPECT THE WRATH OF OVER 40MILLION NIGERIAN STUDENTS

We convey to you our regards and solidarity from the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS), the umbrella body of all Nigerian Students both home and in the diaspora, and the most virile students/youth advocacy platform in Africa.

2. The attention of our national leadership has been drawn to a letter referenced AKSU/REG/DAA/11/VOL.8/010 signed by the Registrar and Secretary to the council informing the above student of his expulsion from the university for allegedly publishing a defamatory article against the governor of the state and the visitor to the university.

3. Needless to remind you that the referenced student is first a citizen of Akwa Ibom State, who has the right to hold an opinion on governance and comment on politics and polity in the state and the nation before becoming a student of Akwa Ibom State University. This expulsion represents oppression, victimization, and a direct attempt to deny our members in your university the fundamental right of expression and political opinion.

4. NANS under my leadership, therefore, reject the expulsion and plead with you to allow reason to prevail by reversing the expulsion within the next three weeks, failure of which shall be a direct declaration of war against the organized structure of Nigerian students and a war that will not only be felt in the university but also the state and the nation at large. We must not allow hierarchical oppression to become a norm in our university system.

5. Universities all over the world work towards training students to interrogate social policies, call leaders to account and maintain positions on issues of governance and leadership and we will not accept anything less from our university management in Nigeria.

The Revolutionary NANS President.
