Popular OAP, Titus Badejo ‘Eja Nla’ Shot Dead In Ibadan

A former presenter with Naija FM and emerging actor, Titus Badejo, popularly known as Eja Nla, has been killed by unknown gunmen in Ibadan, Oyo State.

It was gathered from a reliable source that the murder was carried out in front of 407 Club, Oluyole Estate, beside Bovas Filling Station, at about 11:30 pm.

According to the source, Badejo, who had been at the club since about 9pm, was leaving with some friends when two masked men riding on a motorcycle suddenly approached him and others, barking at them to lay flat.

It was after this they reportedly pumped bullets at Badejo, they ensured that the OAP was dead before they left the scene without taking anything from him or his friends.

It was learnt that Ladoja marked 150 metres for the construction of the road, however, the current governor, Seyi Makinde is planning to extend the number of metres for the circular road corridor, which will affect more houses and community lands. Our correspondent reports that the protesting residents, who are from Ido, Lagelu, Ona Ara, Akinyele, Oluyole and Egbeda, want the state government to maintain the 150 metres already marked by Ladoja. The group of protesters, currently on Iwo Road, have blocked access in and out of the area, which is one of the major roads in Ibadan. The residents armed themselves with different kinds of placards.

VAM News learnt that Badejo had celebrated his birthday about a week ago, during which he also held a programme in Ogbomoso, being an indigene of the town.

The programme, tagged ‘Made in Ogbomoso,’ by Eja Nla Entertainment, was used to elaborately celebrate what was said to be his 40th birthday.

He was also said to have been sighted in a location with the popular actor, Femi Adebayo and others, which he posted on a social media platform.

The policemen from Oluyole Division were said to have gone to the scene, from where his body was taken to the mortuary.

Public Relations Officer of the State Police command, Mr Adewale Osifeso confirmed the incident.

Osifeso in a statement made available on Sunday noted that the manager of the club reported the incident to the Police.

“At about 0730hrs, Sunday 20th June 2021, One Damilola Afolabi ‘m’, Manager at Club 407,Oluyole Ibadan reported at Oluyole Divisional Police Headquarters that on Saturday 19th June, 2021 one Titus Badejo Journalist and Freelance Disc Jockey with the club was shot outside the club premises by unknown assailants,” he said.

“However, comprehensive investigations are in top gear to unravel circumstances surrounding the incident and to apprehend the assailants. Verifiable updates would be provided soonest, please.”
