Ogunolu Samsideen Opeyemi: NYAN Speakership Aspirant Suspends Campaign, Other Activities In Honour Of Dead Chief Of Army Staff, Other Nigerian Heroes

 

Comrade Ambassador Ogunolu Samsideen Opeyemi, the Aspirant of the National youth assembly of Nigeria (NYAN) has suspended all electioneering and other activities in honour of the late Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, former Chief of army Staff, other military officers and Nigerian heroes who died over the fight against insecurity across the country.

The DG of the Ogunolu For NYAN Speakership 2021, Solomon Oyogho, who disclosed this in a statement with Voiceairmedia in Abuja on Monday, said the campaign team took the decision in honour of late Chief of army staff killed in a plane crash in Kaduna.

He said: “The NYAN Speakership hopeful has put all its political and electioneering activities on hold for two days as a further mark of honour for Nigerian heroes who lost their lives during struggle to secure the nation from insecurity and insurgency as well as other killings that have occurred in various parts of our nation.

“Ogunolu had earlier on Monday night directed that its Campaign should be Suspended for two days.

In his word; “My team and my supporters pls let suspend my campaign for 2 days to honour our COAS & other heros to sympathize with their family, 1 minute silent. Thanks”

The team has shown a solidarity with the mood of the nation at this trying time.

Ogunolu added: “In that regard, the NYAN electoral body should continue to monitor the situation and use the period to fine-tune its preparations to conduct peaceful, free, fair and credible elections as part of the much-needed panacea for the unity and progress of the association in the country.

“The team also restates its call for calm and prayers for our nation at this critical time in our national life, even as all hands must be on the deck in finding solutions and the way forward for our nation.”
