Uncertainty in NASS Over Move to Impeach Senate President Ahmad Lawan

Nigeria’s Senate president, Ahmad Lawan, is facing threats of impeachment over his criticism of 17 southern governors for their call to restructure Nigeria.

A member of the House of Representatives, Sergius Ogun, told Arise TV on Monday, May 17, that the impeachment process against the Senate president has commenced.

Ogun stated that the senators from the south will move against the senate president soon.

The lawmaker argued that Lawan is not fit to occupy the position of senate president for speaking critically against governors who represent a section of the country.

Ogun accused Lawan of being biased against restructuring. According to him, the senate president has shown that he cannot chair the amendment of the constitution with a view to restructuring the country.
