Tinubu names Ibas, ex-governor’s wife, others as ambassadors

News UPDATE

President Bola Tinubu has submitted a new list of non-career ambassadorial nominees to the Senate, featuring Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, former Chief of Naval Staff and immediate past sole administrator of Rivers State.

Also on the list are former Senator Ita Enang; Chioma Ohakim, former First Lady of Imo State; and Abdulrahman Dambazau, a former Minister of Interior and ex–Chief of Army Staff. None of them appeared in the earlier batch of nominees released by the presidency.

The nominations were disclosed on Thursday after Senate President Godswill Akpabio read a letter from the president during plenary. In the letter, Tinubu urged the Senate to expedite its screening process to ensure the swift filling of key diplomatic positions.
