Isan College of Agriculture turns Polytechnic

Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has upgraded the College of Agriculture and Technology, Isan Ekiti to Polytechnic status.

Fayemi, who established the College in the year 2014 as College of Technical and Commercial Agriculture in his hometown, Isan-Ekiti but was truncated due to neglect by the immediate past Government.

Fayemi was however re-elected as the Governor of Ekiti State in 2018, on the assumption of office, the Governor reiterated his commitment to the commencement of the College and the development of Agriculture which is one of the four-point agenda of his administration.

This led to the college re-enactment in 2019 under the provision of the College of Agriculture and Technology, Isan-Ekiti Law, No.6 of 2019.

The College officially kicked-off in September 2019 with the appointment of the pioneer Rector, Professor Johnson Kayode Adesodun and the pioneer Registrar, Mr Joseph Akin Olorunsola.

But on Thursday the Governor Fayemi upgraded the College to Polytechnic status to further drive agribusiness, make agriculture more attractive to the youths and boost food security in the state.

Fayemi also attributed the massive investment in the state economy by local and foreign investors worth millions of dollars to the collaboration of his administration with development partners.

Governor Fayemi, who was represented by his deputy, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, at the first edition of Ekiti Civic Engagement with various interest groups in Ado Ekiti, said he was always in pursuit of development partners to lift the state economy in defiance of the global financial challenges.
