A member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Oluwole Oke, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ending his long-standing affiliation with the opposition party.
Oke, who represents Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in Osun State, submitted his resignation in a letter dated 16 April 2025, addressed to the PDP Chairman in Ward 7, Obokun Local Government Area.
The letter was obtained by this newspaper.

In the correspondence, Oke attributed his decision to extensive consultations. “After wide consultations with my political associates, friends, and family members, I have decided to resign from the Peoples Democratic Party,” the lawmaker stated.
The 5th-term representative also confirmed his departure from the PDP in a brief telephone conversation with a reporter on Wednesday.
“I have resigned from the PDP,” he said, without elaborating on his future political direction.
While Oke did not disclose his next political affiliation, he advised his followers and supporters to also exit the PDP. He further urged them to remain calm and await further instructions regarding his next move.
