MFM FC Set Aside N50M For Improved Players Deal

The general overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Dr Olukoya on behalf of the MFM FC management has proposed an improved salary and contract extension to players of the NPFL side.

According to reports in circulation by the club’s media officer, Olawale Quadri, the management of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries FC have set aside over N50 Million to retain key players of the team ahead of the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

The multi-million naira will be spread on the earnings of the key players of the team; Akanni Elijah, Adeyinka Najeem, Adeniyi Bamidele, Tunde Azeez, Adikwu Moses, Dayo Alabi, Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, Izuchukwu Chimezie, Tosin Olubobola, Imeh Atobasi, Denis Obasi and others.

The Lagos-based side finished 10th on the log with 51 points in the recently concluded NPFL season and it’s the belief of the management of the club that the improved salary structure will propel the players to repeat the same feat the club recorded in the 2016/2017 NPFL season and possibly do better in the oncoming 2021/2022 season.

GoalBall’s view:

Is This Sustainable For A Club In The Mould of MFM?

It’s a known fact that the Olukoya Boys are one of the few private clubs in the Nigerian league and expectedly, should cater for its players, maybe not in a better way than the government-owned club sides – because they’re not financially energetic like the state-owned clubs.

And seeing how Akanni Elijah’s supposed transfer to Enyimba was frustrated, one could only wonder how far MFM will go in this regard without owing players and staff for months.

Currently, MFM’s highest earner earns below 300,000 Naira monthly, and this makes it irresistible for players whenever they’re approached by the bigger sides in the league.

The reality is that this will definitely tell on MFM’s account books, but the probable saving grace will be if these players impress clubs outside Nigeria (like we saw in 2017 with Stephen Odey) and are approached by them.
