Prominent Yoruba High Chief is Dead

THE Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, Lateef Gbadamosi Adebimpe, is dead.

This newspaper learnt that Adebimpe died on Wednesday.

He was one of the high chiefs in Ibadan who were promoted to the status of Oba.

The deceased, according to sources, was last seen in public on Friday, July 12, during the coronation of the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin, Ige Olakulehin I.

A source said he has been hospitalised since July 13.

VAM News learnt that the deceased’s father, Oba Gbadamosi Akanbi Adebimpe, was the 35th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Oba Adebimpe, who reigned for 18 months, was crowned on December 10, 1976, and joined his ancestors at the age of 85 on July 17, 1977.
