Residents Murmur Over Truck Blockage of Road in Ogbomoso

Due to the recent traffic on Ogbomoso’s main road, it has become difficult for travelers to reach their destinations.

Most travelers from the north and some parts of the west with big trucks then found an alternative route to reach Oyo town, Ibadan, and Lagos whenever the Takie/High School/LAUTECH road is congested. They find their way through the Arowomole—Osuuru road.

Residents in that area therefore complained about heavy trucks damaging their local roads, and our correspondent has confirmed this. Hopefully, the roads might be amended now that the Supreme Court has granted local government autonomy.

According to an anonymous resident, “the force known as Operation Burst thereafter blocked the along Osuuru with a truck to prevent trucks from passing through the local road to prevent further damage and endangering children’s lives.”

The road blockage has, however, stirred reactions from the residents again, who state that the space provided for motorcycles and cars is too narrow.

A local shop owner said, “Motorists and riders struggle to pass through the space provided. Things might not end well, as the accident they’re trying to prevent might eventually occur.”

“The Operation Burst presence during the day made people behave orderly and drive carefully at that spot, but at night after they’ve left, people start driving carelessly. It is advisable to remove the truck to prevent accidents.” A passerby added.
