1. A major internet provider for some Nigerian commercial banks and a supplier of internet services known as MainOne, which suffered a major submarine cut that knocked major banks offline, said on Saturday it has started the process of restoring services to some of its customers.

2. There was anxiety in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Saturday night over the health of a former leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW Lateef Akinsola (aka Tokyo). Akinsola was reported to have died earlier in the day with sympathisers trooping to his Akobo, Ibadan house for condolences. But one of his sons, whose name could not be mentioned, denied the story.

3. Gunmen on Friday, kidnapped the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo, Tony Aziegbemi. It was gathered on Saturday that Aziegbemi was kidnapped at a spot close to his residence at the Government Reservation Area in Benin City.

4. Operatives of the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base, FOB, Igbokoda in Ondo State have destroyed 182,000 litres of crude oil in an illegal refinery at Biokpu/Opouama riverine communities within Awoye general area in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State. The operation was a coordinated surface and air assault with the naval helicopter.

5. A commercial bus driver simply identified as Lukman on Friday slumped and lost his life while conveying some students to the University of Ilį»rin campus. It was gathered that the tragic incident left the occupants of the vehicle in shock.

6. The military high command on Saturday vowed to go after some youths, who reportedly killed 16 of its personnel attached to 181 Amphibious Battalion in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State. Trouble started on Thursday when the troops responded to a distress call regarding a communal crisis between the Okuoma and Okoloba communities.

7. The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and the Labour Party, LP, on Saturday, locked horns over the forthcoming national convention of the party being planned by the Julius Abure-led National Working Committee and scheduled to hold by or before the end of March. While the NLC said it was not informed about the plan to hold the national convention, the Labour Party argued that nothing concerns the Congress in the conduct of its affairs.

8. There are indications that the Defence Headquarters is preparing to release the names and pictures of the new set of wanted terrorists and bandit leaders. It was gathered that this is following the elimination of top terrorists and bandit leaders on the watchlist of the military and the emergence of a new crop of leaders.

9. Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two suspects, Augustine Udeh and Adepoju Moses, for allegedly raping two teenagers in different parts of the state. The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.

10. The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi and one of his wives, Queen Tobi Philips, have welcomed a twin. Taking to his Instagram page on Saturday 16th March, 2024, the monarch announced the arrival of the set of twins, a male and a female. Olori Tobi Phillips is the third wife of the Ooni of Ife.
