International Day of the Girl Child: Osun Governor’s wife advocates equal opportunities for the girl child

Wife of Osun state Governor Mrs Titilola Adeleke has assured that the present administration will continue to hold in high esteem matters relating to Women and children in the state through it’s various developmental and empowerment programs.

Mrs Adeleke gave the assurance today at a program organized by the National Association of Osun State Student in celebration of this year’s International Day of the Girl Child with the theme “She Inspires Her:Success Stories of Successful Women” held at Olagunsoye Oyinlola Auditorium Osun State University Osogbo.

According to her ,the world is now a global village via internet it is easy to click and know what is happening in the global community without leaving the comfort of your home hence it is imperative for parents to effectively encourage and channel the use of internet to a productive arena for their children mostly their girl child.

She stressed that as good as internet is, it also has a harmful effect on children if not properly guided or monitored.

Mrs Adeleke noted that girl child should be given equal opportunity like the boys, they should be educated and well trained to make the world a better place for all to live.

She then use the medium to call on stakeholders to champion the right of the girl child instead of sidelining them, maintaining that they should be given the chance lend their voices on matters that affect them.
