We demand annual public holiday for traditionalists— Soyinka tells Tinubu

Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka has called on the Federal Government led by President Bola Tinubu to declare a national public holiday for traditionalists in the country.

He spoke against the backdrop of his 89th birthday celebration.

Soyinka said traditionalists had been neglected for too long in the nation, saying they have had enough.

According to him, it was about time they demanded, on behalf of traditional religions, an annual holiday like Islam and Christianity.

“We’ve had enough, We’ve had enough of being second-class citizens in this nation. So, equal time, equal space, we demand public holidays,” he said.
