Alleged Terrorism: Lagos Eze Ndigbo’s Trial Begins Today

The trial of Frederick Nwajagu, an eze ndigbo from Ajao Estate in Lagos, for alleged terrorism will today, July 5, before a Lagos High Court sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square.

The Department of State Services, DSS, detained the 67-year-old Igbo chieftain in April over an alleged threat to summon IPOB members to Lagos in order to protect Igbo property in the state.

He was initially charged with the alleged offence on nine counts in a lawsuit with the case number LD/21505C/2023.

The prosecution attorney announced his attendance at the hearing in the case on Tuesday, but the defendant’s attorney was not present.

When questioned by the court regarding his legal representation, Nwajagu expressed surprise at their absence, mentioning that his lawyer had assured him and his junior’s presence in court.

As a result, the court adjourned the proceedings until today to allow for the trial to begin.
