US President, Joe Biden, has congratulated President Bola Tinubu on his inauguration as the 16th President of Nigeria.
In a statement released this afternoon, President Biden said he hopes to continue to work with President Tinubu to support economic growth, advance security and promote respect for human rights. His statement reads
‘’On behalf of the people of the United States, I send warm wishes to the government and people of Nigeria as they inaugurate a new President. My administration has worked to strengthen ties between the United States and Nigeria, and I look forward to continuing this work with President Tinubu to support economic growth, advance security, and promote respect for human rights.
The people-to-people connections between our two countries run particularly deep, nurtured by a vibrant Nigerian Diaspora in the United States. As we further deepen our partnership with Nigeria, I look forward to drawing even more on the ideas and energy of this dynamic connection between our countries.
As Africa’s largest democracy and economy, Nigeria’s success is the world’s success. Elected leaders owe it to their people to show that democracy can deliver for their needs. And the United States will continue to work closely with Nigeria, as a friend and partner, to deliver a more peaceful and prosperous future for our world.”
Also, the leading aspirant of the National association of Nigerian students, (NANS) Southwest, Comrade Owolewa Taiwo, has congratulated the new President.

The NANS Zone D Coordinator Hopeful, Owolewa Taiwo, in the course of its agenda to serve the interest of south west Students, on Monday, congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President, Kashim Shettima on their successful inauguration on May 29, 2023, as 16th President, vice president of Nigeria.
The leading Aspirant for Zone D Coordinator urged the President to observe the Rule of Law and strive to make the students community friendly, conducive and accommodative for myself and my fellow students.
The former NANS Chairman said, it is not just enough to congratulate President Tinubu, the world should also commend and congratulate the immediate past president, Muhammedu Buhari, who allowed a peaceful transition of power to the new president.
