Osun Gov’ship: How Oyetola will defeat Adeleke – ex- Ilorin Varsity Vice Chancellor

VOICE AIR MEDIA News Update

Prof. Razaq Abubakre, ex-Vice Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University in Ilorin, believes former Osun Governor Gboyega Oyetola will reclaim his mandate.

The prominent indigene of the state declared that those threatening unrest if the All Progressives Congress, APC, wins at the Supreme Court are only boasting.

“The promise of fire and brimstone by the PDP should APC win at the Supreme Court is an empty threat,” he told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

The scholar said the security apparatus, part of the paraphernalia of the office of a governor, will not be available to Governor Ademola Adeleke in due course.

Abubakre alleged that the violent posture of the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN) remained a hallmark of the PDP in Osun.

Hs said many lives were lost in the struggle for Rauf Aregbesola to become Governor, saying the state only knows peace “when progressives are in power”.

“They kill their members while conducting primaries. They killed members of APC and forced many to abandon their abodes.”

Abubakre noted that the situation enabled the PDP, “the unscrupulous umpire and security allies to write whatever they chose”.

“Still, cast-iron records show that irregularities characterised the Osun governorship election,” Abubakre alleged.

He said PDP’s intimidation of the Supreme Court was similar to what Peter Obi’s running mate, Yusuf Baba-Ahmed, did, which caused Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka to criticise Labour Party (LP) supporters.

The don served as Federal Commissioner for the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) for Osun State between 2012 and 2018.

Prof Abubakre, a member of Agba Osun (Elders of Osun) of the APC, was one-time the Dean of the Faculty of Arts at UNILORIN.
