Tragedy As Pastor’s Wife Abducted, Gang-rape To Death in Rivers

Suspected members of a dreaded cult group have abducted a mother of two Mrs. Chigbewejim Steward, and gang raped her to death in Abarikpo in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The assailants were said to have whisked away their victim on Sunday morning to a location where they raped and killed her.

Her body was reportedly found around 10am on Monday in the community with multiple injuries and blood stains in her private part.

He husband, Lawyer Steward, confirmed the ugly incident, saying it happened after a notorious cultist in the area accused his wife of always gossipping with his name.

Steward said: “I am the husband of Chigbejim Lawyer who was murdered yesterday by a group of boys. After raping her, they murdered her.”

“I am not a cultist, I am an Assistant Pastor in charge of Evangelism in Seventh Day Adventist Church Abarikpo. Everybody in my community knows I am not a cultist.

“She gave birth to three children one is late. My daughter is seven, while the little one, a boy is three year- old.

“One boy, Sunday, a cultist claimed he slaughtered my wife that my wife talked against him. That people told him my wife always talked against him. That is the reason he murdered her. He is a cultist”.

Steward said the Ahoada Police Division in Ahoada LGA led by the Divisional Police Officer visited the crime scene.

“I am calling on the government to help me find those boys that kidnapped my wife, raped and murdered her. Let the government and the police help to arrest them and make them pay for what they did to my wife”, he said.

The Public Relations Officer of Igbu Akoh Clan Youth Congress, Ahoada East LGA, Ekeakita Chinem, confirmed the incident, saying the community had been experiencing a series of killings in recent times.

“So like we have been having a series of killing in Akoh. When they kill nobody goes after the bad boys. No security people go after the bad boys,” he said

Rivers Police spokesman Grace Iringe-Koko, was yet to speak on the incident.
