The victim of the ghastly motor accident that occurred on Sunday afternoon along the Murtala Mohammed highway opposite the New Secretariat complex has been identified by sources close to the affected family as Mrs. Clara Sunny Bassey, a legal practitioner.
Sonnie and Clara Bassey, Both Lawyers started their relationship as Law students in University of Calabar, UNICAL.
It was on Sunday reported that Mrs Bassey died of bruises sustained in a car crash.
A source in the Cross River State sector command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, stated that the victim was a middle-aged woman and described the probable cause of the accident as, “loss of control due to high speed.”
Photographs of the scene of the unfortunate accident show that the vehicle, a blue-colored Toyota Highlander, swerved off the road and hit what appeared to be a Gmelina Arborea tree planted by the side of the road.
According to Asukwo Mendie Archibong Esq, in a Facebook post, “Clara Bassey a married woman in Calabar was told by a friend that her husband was in the Spar Mall with another woman.
“She left her children at home and sped off to the mall. Upon arriving at the mall, she spotted her husband entering into his vehicle with another woman.
“She attacked him with her vehicle, then gave hot chase after he drove off.
“Unfortunately she lost control of her vehicle along Muritala Muhammed Highway, she also lost her life in the single vehicle accident.
Mr. Asukwo also stated that the husband, Sonnie was lucky to be alive as Clara, tried to kill him in the parking lot with her car.
According to him “He fled to avoid confrontation.
“She pursued and hunted him to harm him. He ran away to avoid a violent confrontation.
“She pursued him to block him on the highway to possibly kill him. He ran for his life.
“She was a violent, mean spirited, vengeful woman who was intent on blocking her innocent husband and bringing him to great bodily harming.
“In the process she lost her life.
“Mercifully he escaped with his life. The other innocent lady escaped with her life as well.”
Sources further revealed that Sonnie turned back to help his wife when the incident occurred on Sunday and was allegedly begging the wife for forgiveness at the hospital. CONTINUE READING…
