How Senator Ifeanyi Ubah was attacked as gunmen kill aides

Some gunmen on Sunday attacked the convoy of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah in Enugwu-Ukwu community in the Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, killing three of his police escorts.

An eye witness explained that Senator Ubah, who is representing Anambra South senatorial zone, was reportedly injured in the attack in which some people described as an assassination attempt on the Young Peoples Party, YPP, senator.

“Ifeanyi Ubah’s convoy came under attack in Enugwu Ukwu this evening. He was ambushed by heavily armed men who opened fire on his convoy. Some of his aides were killed, including some police officers.

“The senator managed to escape as his car was riddled with bullets.

“I was driving up to that spot from the link road to the express when some people in a shop shouted at me and asked me to turn back and take another road, which I did,” the eyewitness said.

However, the state police command is yet to react to the attack.

Senator Ubah is a Nigerian businessman, entrepreneur and currently the Senator, representing Anambra South Senatorial District in the Nigerian senate and CEO of Capital Oil.

In 2014, Senator Ubah lost at the 2014 Anambra gubernatorial election under the platform of the Labour Party.

On 24 February 2019(5 years later), he was declared the winner of the Anambra South Senatorial elections under the platform of the Young Progressive Party (YPP).

Senator Ubah became an exporter of motor tyres and spare parts majorly in West Africa including Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia and DR Congo before he expanded his business ventures in some countries in Europe including Belgium and the United Kingdom.

In 2001, he founded Capital Oil and Gas Limited.

He is the founder of The Authority Newspaper, a Nigerian daily newspaper and also the owner of Ifeanyi Ubah F.C., a football club in the Nigeria Premier League, following its purchase as Gabros International Football Club. CONTINUE READING…
