Comrade Oladimeji Uthman Danfodio, has declared his intention to contest for the Vice president external affairs of the National association of Nigerian students (NANS), Declared his zeal for the improvement of students’ welfare and academics for the sake of the nation’s progress and unity.
The former NANS Zone D(South west) Deputy Coordinator, Danfodio made this known during the declaration on Thursday, 28th April at the Federal College Of education, Abeokuta, Ogun state.
Part of the declaration speech reads; “As a major player in the growth of Tertiary Education and other levels of education in Nigeria, I have shown great zeal for the improvement of students’ welfare and academics. Students are important stakeholders in our education sector and it is prerequisite to teach them, help them, and cater for them for the sake of the Nation’s progress and unity.
“NANS, the largest students association in Sub-Sahara Africa has not just focused on the growth of Nigerian students but has also sought adequate welfare of students in diaspora. For this good gesture to continue, we need someone who is experienced and well informed about students’ struggles and travails to take the wheel. This is important so as to sustain the good relationship we have with our students outside the shores of Nigeria and to ensure their safety and comfort.
“It is in this light that I declare to contest for the position of NANS Vice President External Affairs.
“The leadership of the students body at this current time needs a vibrant and dogged representation that will continue to change the narratives and take the association to a greater height and therefore leave no stone unturned in the quest for justice and the agitation for students rights. I have shown these qualities and my track records are there to back up my claims.
“We’ve had a series of attacks, victimization and marginalization of Nigerians studying in different countries and a proper leadership can ensure that these attacks are minimal and well attended to.
“And talking of what I am bringing on board, it is a whole lot that is tied to ensuring that Nigerian Students both at home and in diaspora enjoy as a Nigerian and a Nigerian Student. There are lots of good dividends Nigerian Students ought to have free access to across the globe, a conducive learning environment, modern learning infrastructure, students empowerment, friendly management body, uninterrupted academic calendar, independent Students Union, qualitative education, constant electricity supply, adequate welfare and security, well equipped healthcare system, among others that are lacking.
“There will definitely be active cooperation and regular engagement with the African National Unions to accelerate the struggle for Africa unity, growth and development for the benefits of our members. Also, foster relationship with the International Students and Youths organizations and other bodies both in and outside the country.
“I need to also inform you all that TeamUNASSAILABLE shall raise the bar of good representation during the tenure as the Vice President External Affairs by the special grace of the lord of Á luta.
Speaking on the present leadership of the largest students body (NANS) led by Comrade Adedayo Sunday Asefon GCNS, it is an open secret that the President is truly a Revolutionist and a first class achiever and that is the reason progressive and capacitated student leaders and all structures of the students body across the globe supported and pledged their loyalty to his administration.
