Osun 2022: ‘You ‘re on your own’ – APC loyalists in Irepodun, Orolu LGs tell Lasun Yusuf

… urge party faithful to discountenance his vicious claims, rally round Oyetola

Leaders and members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Irepodun and Orolu local government areas of Osun on Thursday, held a mega rally to demonstrate their love and solidarity for the administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.

The APC loyalists who filed out in their thousands discredited the immediate past Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Lasun Yusuff who hails from their side, saying he has lost grip at home.

The party loyalists who said Lasun was on his own said they were resolute to re-elect the incumbent Governor to continue his good works. They also urged the people of Irepodun and Orolu local councils to discountenance the ex-Deputy Speaker’s claims, saying he lacks integrity to discredit the candidature of Oyetola.

The APC members and supporters described Lasun as a ‘lone political walkie-talkie’ that lacks the moral authority to speak against the present administration in the State.

They reiterated their support and loyalty for the administration and candidature of Governor Oyetola who they said, had performed creditably well and deserved to be re-elected.

Speaking during the rally, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment and Sanitation, Hon. Rufus Oyegbile said the party members had earlier passed a vote of confidence in the Governor to continue his good works, having painstakingly assessed his modest achievements in the last three years.

Oyegbile noted that members of the party across wards in the two local government areas had come out boldly to pronounce their choice of Governor Oyetola for second term.

He said the decision was to ensure the continuity and consolidation of good governance which the Governor had successfully sustained in the State.

The former Irepodun Local Government Chairman called on the people of the Councils to discountenance whatever was said by the former Deputy Speaker who he described as a demoralised politician.

According to him, the declaration of the former Deputy Speaker Lasun Yusuf as a sympathiser of a fraction of the party called “The Osun Progressives” was a ‘confused drama directed by a confusionist with detailed cast.

“As you can see, this is not a crowd of passersby but an assembly of genuine party loyalists whose decision was to ensure the re-election of Governor Oyetola come July 16, 2022.

“Today’s outing is to tell the people of the State in general and the two Councils in particular that we are for Oyetola and his re-election. We are not for whatever anyone says or may say, Oyetola is our candidate and no going back on this.

“I must say that the recent political jamboree dramatised by the former Deputy Speaker, Lasun Yusuf, was just a premeditated distraction that holds no water. If he continues doing that till next year, it will change nothing because we are determined to ensure the re-election of Governor Oyetola.

“All we need from you (party supporters) is to continue to hold firmly the pillars of the party from units to wards, from wards to locals and from locals to state. With this, no amount of political gimmicks and mischief can pull down the ordained work of God,” he added.

Speaking in turns, the Chairman, Irepodun South LCDA, Hon. Adekunle Oloyede; Chairman Orolu Local Government, Hon. Adekunle Benson; former Chairman, Irepodun Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Taiwo and Hon. Akeem Ademola appealed to the party loyalists to remain united and work in unison for the success of the party.

The motion for the adoption of Governor Oyetola for second term was moved and unanimously adopted and passed by the APC members and supporters.
