Drama As Osun LG Asked To Vacate Secretariat Over Outstanding Rent

Drama as Alhaji Kadiri Adepoju reportedly issued Boripe North Local Council Development Authority in Iree a 7-days ultimatum to vacate the secretariat and pay a sum of N1,000,000 outstanding rent or face prosecution.

The ultimatum given by Alhaji Adepoju who is the owner of property rented as secretariat of Boripe North Local Council Development Authority in Iree was contained in a document which was issued by his lawyer, Dr. D.A. Ariyoosu.

VAM News learnt that the apartment was secured in the year 2016 when the LCDA was established by administration of former Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

According to Insight media, a media outfit based in Osun, the Property is a very Big House and was cheaply giving to the LCDA by Alhaji Adepoju. Boripe North is to take maintain the same Property, and pay Electricity Bill.

Alhaji Adepoju said the Council should vacate the apartment, pay the outstanding rent and ensure the electricity bill is paid up to date.

He also accused the Council of not tidying up the apartment.

Part of the document reads, “Your Authority is to pay the accumulated arrears consumption bills up to date and effect necessary repairs before delivering up possession of the aforesaid premises.

“It is our hope that your authority would avail itself of the opportunity of paying the rent and deliver up possession and avoid the unpalatable consequences of litigation with its attendant publicity and embarrassment.

“In the most unlikely event of the failure of your Authority to quit and deliver up possession of the premises and pay the arrears of rent within the period stated, this letter serves as a NOTICE OF INTENTION TO SUE and in which case we hereby state our client’s cause of action.

When contacted, the Chairman of Boripe North LCDA, Hon. Oyebode Samson Oyewole said he initialled denied seeing any quit notice, asking our correspondent “where did you see it?” When our correspondent offered to forward the documents to him via WhatsApp, Oyewole said he has “no time to speak on the matter.”
