The presidency has revealed its plan to fund a National Social Housing Programme (NSHP) to benefit not less than 1.5 million Nigerians.
In a statement made available to Newsmen, the presidency said the federal government with the support of the ministry of finance, the federal government has finalised plans with the Central Bank of Nigeria to fund the massive project.
Speaking further on the project, Laolu Akande, the senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity in the office of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, noted that the aim is to citizens acquire low-cost houses through mortgage and also rent to Own options.
Akande added that the scheme is expected to also generate jobs for not less than 1.8 million citizens.
Also, the presidency said the Economic Sustainability Plan (ESP) Solar Naija programme, intended to supply electricity to “five million households, serving about 25 million Nigerians in rural areas and under-served urban communities nationwide, has recorded some progress.”
The presidential media aide noted:
“One of the local solar power companies implementing aspects of the ESP Solar Power Naija scheme, A-SOLAR, which will deliver 100,000 units across the country in the first phase of the project, received some boost, with the completion of the disbursement of funds from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).”
