How I Became Poorer After Emerging As Governor, Rochas Okorocha

The lawmaker representing Imo West senatorial district in the National Assembly, Rochas Okorocha, has claimed that he became poorer after becoming a governor in Imo state.

Okorocha
The former governor made the claim during an interview on Channels TV on Sunday, May 16.

Okorocha also denied the allegations that he acquired properties with government funds during his tenure as governor.

He explained that he had always been a successful person before his governorship reign. Okorocha said: “I challenge anybody to prove that I acquired any property with any government fund.

“I think people have forgotten that I was Rochas before becoming the governor of Imo State; I think they have forgotten completely.”

The senator claimed that he embarked on several infrastructural projects during his two-term as governor.

He said there is no way he would have stole the government’s money when its monthly allocation is small. Meanwhile, the Imo state government has reacted to the ‘Supreme court administrator’ tag on Governor Hope Uzodinma.

Many residents of the southeast state still call the Imo chief executive ‘Supreme court administrator’ after he was installed by the apex court. Speaking to The Punch newspaper on the issue in an interview published on Sunday, May 16, the Imo state commissioner for information, Declan Emelumba, said it is a non-issue.

He pointed out that he was not the first person to have been favoured by a Supreme Court ruling, describing it as the height of ignorance to refer to him like that.
