Speaker Obasa Allies Dump APC for APM Over Assembly Tickets

News Update

Two allies of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, have defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) to pursue the party’s tickets for the 2027 Lagos State House of Assembly election.

The defectors are Hon. Kola Egunjobi, who is seeking the Agege Constituency I seat, and Azeez Oladapo Yusuf Ninolowo, who is contesting for Agege Constituency II.

Both politicians had initially secured the APC tickets for their respective constituencies. However, following an internal review by the Lagos APC, their candidacies were replaced by Oluwagbenga Abiola and Enimakure Akindele Sakiru.

The development comes despite Obasa’s emergence as the APC candidate for the Agege Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives election.

Obasa, who was briefly removed as Speaker before his reinstatement following intervention by President Bola Tinubu, is now set to contest the federal seat under the APC.
