Millions in Niger State will be in darkness for part of Wednesday as the Transmission Company of Nigeria carries out scheduled works.

TCN said in a statement on X that it will shut down its Bida 132/33kV Transmission Substation for annual preventive maintenance between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

The company explained that engineers will service a 60MVA 132/33kV power transformer and associated switchgear at the substation.

The outage will hit customers of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company across Bida and its environs.

Communities affected include:

Bida Town, Army Barracks, Agaie, Doko, Baro, Zago, Emi Rani, Bussu, Laugba, Goshigi, Lafiyagi Essa, Amgulu, Mansantali, Agaie Town, Low Cost, Masaga, and other nearby villages.

TCN assured that electricity will be restored immediately after the maintenance is completed. It also appealed to residents for understanding over the temporary disruption.

The agency said the exercise is part of its wider preventive maintenance drive to strengthen grid stability and reduce future faults.
