Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has cast his vote in the ongoing governorship election in the state.

Adeleke arrived at his polling unit in Ede at about 8:30 a.m. and joined other voters to exercise his franchise.

The governor cast his vote after completing the required accreditation process at the polling unit.

Voters turned out as early as 7:20 a.m. at many of the polling units in the state, including Unit 7, Oke-Oja in Osogbo, Osun State, to exercise their franchise as INEC officials prepared the polling unit for the commencement of voting.

Reaction

The governor said he had received reports of violence in Modakeke and Obagun, alleging that supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were behind the incidents.

He also accused some police officers in the affected areas of allegedly aiding the violence.

Adeleke called on security agencies to urgently restore peace in the affected communities and ensure that voters can exercise their franchise without fear or intimidation.

The governor said he remained confident that Osun voters were prepared to participate in the election and vote for him.

The incumbent Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke is the candidate of the Accord Party.
