THE Nigeria Police Force has assured residents of Osun State of adequate security before, during and after the August 15 governorship election, with 15,000 personnel deployed across the state.

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Iniedu, disclosed this on Thursday during a stakeholders’ engagement meeting at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo.

He said four unarmed police personnel would be posted to each polling unit and urged voters to come out without fear, vote, and return home peacefully.

CSP Iniedu also announced that Osun State would be under lockdown from 12:00 AM on Saturday, with no vehicular movement except for those on constitutional duties. He added that quasi-security outfits such as Amotekun would not be recognized on election day.

The Police also released emergency toll-free lines: 0813 406 2773 and 0812 852 6154 for residents to report any act capable of threatening the election.
