THE Osun APC Campaign Council has called for a thorough, transparent and impartial investigation into the death of Ajayi Aderogba, while accusing the Imole Campaign Council of attempting to politicize the tragic incident.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Office of the Director-General of the Osun APC Campaign Council, Hon. Oluwole Oke, and signed by his Senior Media Aide, Omolebi-Sunday Segun Tunde, the campaign council said the loss of Aderogba was a tragedy that should not be exploited for partisan purposes.
The council expressed condolences to the family, friends and associates of the deceased, describing every violent death as a matter deserving professional investigation by the appropriate security agencies.
Responding to an earlier statement by the Imole Campaign Council, signed by Mr. Pelumi Olajengbesi, the APC campaign council argued that it was inappropriate for any political group to assign blame before the conclusion of investigations by law enforcement authorities.
According to the statement, allowing security agencies to carry out their constitutional responsibilities remains the proper path toward justice, warning that public accusations made without judicial determination could undermine ongoing investigations and heighten political tension.
The council also rejected calls demanding that Hon. Oluwole Oke “produce” an individual allegedly connected with the incident, maintaining that such responsibilities fall exclusively within the jurisdiction of law enforcement agencies.
It further stated that if any person or organisation possesses credible evidence relating to the incident, such evidence should be submitted to the Nigeria Police and other relevant security agencies rather than being litigated in the media.
The APC campaign council equally dismissed insinuations linking its Director-General to the incident, describing such claims as premature and politically motivated. It maintained that every citizen is entitled to the constitutional presumption of innocence until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
Reaffirming Hon. Oke’s commitment to peace, justice and public safety across Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency and Osun State, the statement said he would not shield anyone found culpable of criminal conduct if established through lawful investigation.
The campaign council called on the Osun State Police Command and other relevant security agencies to conduct what it described as a comprehensive, transparent and unbiased investigation free from political interference or media pressure.
It stressed that those responsible for Ajayi Aderogba’s death should be identified and prosecuted in accordance with the law, while insisting that justice must be based on evidence, due process and the rule of law rather than political accusations.
The statement comes amid heightened political exchanges between the APC and the PDP in Osun State over the circumstances surrounding Aderogba’s death, with both sides offering differing perspectives while investigations by security agencies continue.
