THE All Progressives Congress. APC, has unveiled its candidates for the 2027 House of Representatives elections in Ondo State following the conclusion of heated primary elections conducted across the nine federal constituencies in the state.
The exercise, supervised by the National Assembly Primary Election Committee constituted by the National Working Committee of the party, produced a mix of political heavyweights and fresh contenders after keenly contested battles in several constituencies.
Chairman of the committee, Hon. Iboroma Harry Dabibi, announced the results on Sunday, describing the primaries as peaceful, transparent and credible.
Among the winners was Ifeoluwa Ehindero, who recorded a landslide victory in Akoko North East/Akoko North West Federal Constituency with 22,304 votes, defeating Ibrahim Moruf Tosin, who polled 330 votes, and Oseni Oyeniyi, who secured 118 votes.
In Ondo West/Ondo East Federal Constituency, Dr. Abiola Peter Makinde coasted to victory with 10,847 votes ahead of Ade Adeniyi, who scored 2,045 votes, and Bola Fisayo, who secured 1,551 votes.
The Okitipupa/Irele contest also produced a decisive outcome as Dr. Damamola Olumuyiwa emerged winner with 6,547 votes, defeating Prince Jimi Odimayo, who polled 827 votes, and Dele Omosehin with 623 votes.
In Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency, Hon. Omowunmi Olatunji Ohwovoriole emerged victorious after securing 9,237 votes in a crowded contest involving 10 aspirants.
Hon. Dennis Fadairo came second with 2,120 votes, while Hon. Bamidele Ologunloluwa polled 549 votes.
The primaries, however, witnessed dramatic twists in some constituencies after the committee invalidated votes scored by aspirants who were not cleared by the screening committee.
In Akoko South East/Akoko South West Federal Constituency, Dr. Olusegun Victor Ategbole polled 12,011 votes but was disqualified, leading to the declaration of Hon. Adefarati Gboyega, who scored 1,865 valid votes, as winner.
A similar development played out in Owo/Ose Federal Constituency where Hon. Ayodeji Arowele Samuel’s 9,690 votes were invalidated for failing to secure clearance from the screening committee.
Engr. Kayode Ijalana, who polled 7,098 valid votes, was consequently declared winner.
In Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, Hon. Adefisoye Tajudeen Adeyemi’s 5,463 votes were also declared invalid, paving the way for Rasaq Obe, who secured 4,988 valid votes, to emerge winner.
Other candidates produced through the exercise included Hon. Matthew Oyerimade, who won the Odigbo/Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Federal Constituency primary with 12,744 votes, and Akingboye Akinleke David, who clinched the Ilaje/Ese-Odo ticket with 9,284 votes.
Dabibi commended party leaders, stakeholders and members for maintaining peace throughout the exercise, noting that the orderly conduct of the primaries reflected the APC’s commitment to internal democracy.
He urged aggrieved aspirants and their supporters to close ranks and work for the success of the party in the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the APC must remain united and focused on delivering President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all the party’s National Assembly candidates in Ondo State at the polls.
