Ifedayo LG Chairman Flags Off Roads Grading, Residents Laud Tinubu Over LG Autonomy

Posted on March 31, 2026

THE leadership of Ifedayo Local Government Area of Osun State on Tuesday commenced massive roads grading exercise across the nooks and crannies of the Council.

This is even as the residents of the Council showered encomiums and lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the positive impact of Local Government Autonomy.

Speaking at the flag off in Oke-Ila-Orangun, Ifedayo Local Government Chairman, Hon. Samuel Idowu Abiodun described the grading exercise as a child of necessity to open up rural communities.

Hon. Abiodun who doubled as State Chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, said the grading would go a long way to ameliorate transportation system and connect rural communities to urban centres within the Council.

He said the Council Chairmen were irrevocably determined and resolute to stimulate local economy by opening up their respective Councils to the larger communities.

According to him, the ongoing 35km roads grading exercise is a testament to the pro-masses developmental plans of the APC led Councils in Osun aimed at breathing life in the grassroots.

“Honestly, this grading exercise is aimed to directly impact our people at the grassroots. As we all know, roads grading exercise is a fundamental responsibility of the Council to ease transportation and conveyance of people and farm produce from the rural areas (villages) to towns.

“I thank God that road grading is ongoing across the 30 Local Government Areas and Area Office in Osun State. This is a well- thoughtout initiative purposely implementing to bring succour to our people at the rural communities and urban centres.

“As you can see, it is a welcome development as beneficiaries particularly the farmers and motorists plying the graded roads have been commending the initiative. With this, it shows that the exercise is indeed, has direct impact on them and we promise to make it a regular routine while we continue to implement more people-focused projects in our various Councils”, Hon. Abiodun said.
